Job Description – Capex Project and Procurement Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Coordination:
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, Production, Maintenance and R&D teams to understand technical requirements for Capex items.
  • Oversee end-to-end procurement activities for Capex projects, from sourcing to delivery, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Contract Negotiations
  • Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and conditions for the organization.
  • Draft, review, and finalize procurement contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Capex Procurement Strategy:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for Capex purchases aligned with the organization's operational and financial goals.
  • Ensure cost-effective sourcing while maintaining high-quality standards and regulatory compliance.
Vendor Selection & Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish strong relationships with suppliers and contractors for Capex procurement.
  • Conduct vendor audits, assess supplier capabilities, and ensure compliance with industry standards (GMP, cGMP, etc.).
  • Negotiate long-term contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers.
  • Cost Management:
  • Develop cost-saving initiatives and continuously explore ways to optimize the procurement process for Capex projects.
  • Analyze and benchmark the market to ensure competitive pricing for equipment and services.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure all Capex procurement activities comply with internal company policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential risks in the procurement process and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare detailed reports on procurement activities, project progress, cost savings, and supplier performance.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for audit purposes and regulatory compliance.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with finance, legal, engineering, and quality teams to ensure smooth procurement processes and compliance with financial and regulatory guidelines.
  • Closely work with consultant and outsourced project experts
Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative, performance-oriented work culture.
Technical Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of Basic plant utilities, Material handling, Mechanical/ electromechanical and instrumentation products.
  • Experience in Contract Management, AMC, for Annual rate contracts and Frame agreements. Experience of handling project procurement and defining strategies for the same.
Others:
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven experience in high-value contract negotiations and supplier relationship management.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong financial acumen, budgeting, and cost-control experience.
  • Project Management: Experience managing large Capex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Problem Solving: Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to manage risks effectively.
  • ERP Proficiency: Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP .

  • Excellent time/deadline management
  • Maintain database for vendors, commodity prices.
  • Detailed Knowledge of manufacturing process of project industry in in oil and gas sector will be of advantage.

  • Daily/Monthly KPI reporting

Experience level: 4 to 6 Yrs.
Education: Diploma/bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Electrical/E&TC/Instrumentation/Chemical where existing working on any one role of Capex Project Engineer/ Capex procurement / Plant Maintenance Engineer / Brownfield Projects/ Utility Engineer/any other graduation.
